Mount Parnitha National Park Excursions & Casino

Mount Parnitha is the highest mountain in Attica Prefecture at 1,400 meters. The mountain is a huge pine forest covering 300 square km. and boasts over 820 different kinds of herbs and plants representing 1/6th of the species of flora found in Greece. There are thousands of trails to follow and 100's of caves to explore. Two mountain shelters called Bafi and Flambouri serve the needs of hikers.

The ancient Greeks believed that the God: cloven footed Pan, used to come to Parnitha to play his music and dance in the forests which was first settled during the Mycenaean period. It was always a strategic post in the protection of Attica and the most fortified mountain of ancient Greece.

There is a modern Hotel Mount Parnes which houses the Casino Mount Parnes. All rooms and suites have breathtaking views. The casino is open daily, except Wedensdays, from 7:30pm to 1:30 am and later on Saturday nights. Evening Dress and a valid passport are requirements of entry.

Getting There by Car: take the National Road towards Lamia from Athens and turn left at the exit marked Parnitha. Either navigate the winding road or park at the foot of the mountain and take the funicular cable car to the top. Cable cars are operational untill 7pm.
