The Rodopou Peninsula on Crete

Crete's Rodopou Peninsula

the coast west of ChaniaThis peninsula to the east of Gramvousa (and west of the city of Hania) has a wide range of rock and crag birds, and white-tailed eagles winter here, with many migratory birds passing through in spring and autumn.

A small gorge between the villages of Polyrinia and Sirikari has some fine habitat for flora, including the chasmophytes, and the Cretan blue lettuce endemic to Crete, along with other endemic plants. There are also many good birds sites on this peninsula, one of them in the mountain area in the southern part around Mt Koutroulis (1071 meters) and Aghios Dhikaios.
