West of Paleohora are some coastal and beach habitats with interesting flowers, including an endemic love-in-a-mist, as
well as Cretan hyacinths.
Since the area is so warm, one can even find some of the first spring flowers blooming in March. The area to the west of Koundoura around to Elafonisi (beyond the end of the road) is a lovely and unspoiled stretch of coast.
