GREEK RECIPE: Stewed Chicken with Okra

1 5lbs chicken cut into serving pieces
1 lg onion minced
2 cups solid pack tomatoes broken up

1/2 cup butter
1 tsp dried sweet basil
salt and pepper to taste
1 lb fresh young okra washed and stemmed

Heat butter in a pot and sautee onion until golden. Add chicken and brown. Add tomatoes, sweet basil, salt and pepper. Bring to simmer covered for about 1 hour, or until chicken is almost tender. Add Okra at last 25 minutes of estimated cooking time and simmer covered until chicken and okra are tender. Serves 6.
