The Black Guardians
A type of ogre very frequently encountered in Greek folklore, especially on mountain summits and in grottoes, springs and wells, was the "Moor" or "black giant",(arapis).
These large black men were usually imagined smoking a long pipe.
Those they were displeased with they tormented, and they were even said to kill when seriously offended.
They frequently guarded hidden treasure.
