Byzantine Church the Transfiguration of the Savior

Byzantine Church in Athens: Saviour of Kottakis

The church is dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Savior  and was used by the Russian community until 1846, when a law was passed designating the Savior of Lykodemos as the palce where the Russian citizens in Athens would congregate and worship (The Russian Church). It is of cross-in-square type with dome, but several later interventions have been made on its south and west side.
