Omonia Square Page 3

So lets start with these Omonia area pictures below any of which you can click to see larger too. The photos left and center below are of Loumidies a well known, high quality Greek company that's been supplying Athens with coffee from long before the guy that started Starbucks was even born. You can smell the freshly roasted beans from out on the street too. Far right is Starbucks which is on Aeolou Street just outside the square.

Below left is the periptero with the best selection of foreign periodicals that I have ever seen in Greece. There are a couple of these right as you come up the correct escalator from the Metro station below. Center is a map/sign designating the Metro station and its an as good as any and better than most place to arrange to meet your friends in Omonia. Right is a shot of the metro platforms down below.

Below all three of these photos are of the square's vast concrete expanse showing the juxtaposition of the ugly wire sculpture (I think its ugly and its my Greece travel guide) with that bastion of fashion, the department store called the Hondos center. The building with the pink rectangle. The rectangle usually has a picture of a scantily clad emaciated model pouting her lips or posing in some absurd way. Why they picked that name The Hondos Center, is beyond me and reminds me of a cowboy movie of similar name with John Wayne I think? Hondo!
