Perhaps one of the best military strategists of the revolution Androutsos most famous encounter with Ottoman troops was
his famous stand at the Inn of Gravia where he, with a small band of about 100 guerillas, held back the advance of more than
3,000 Turkish troops for over a week.
His area of activity emcompassed primarily central Greece (Sterea Ellada).
A victim of political infighting, Androutsos was imprisoned by his fellow Greeks and died in 1825.
